Chelsea begin contract talks with two star players.
"Chelsea are progressing in talks with Thiago Silva to extend the contract for one more season, valid until June 2024. Discussions ongoing, waiting for green light. "
No matter how much money Todd Boehly can spend during transfer windows, it is clear that after the Everton clash, Silva is still in a class of his own.
"Considered top player and leader into the dressing room, Chelsea hope to complete the agreement soon." — Fabrizio Romano had added.
The veteran himself whose current contract expires in June had confirmed he was still in talks with the club over a new contract.
He told ESPN:
'We are negotiating [a new deal].
'Everything will probably happen in the next few days. My intention, and that of the club as well, is to stay together. I know that the club needs me right now.'
The 38-year-old went on to add:
'I am here to be able to help, they are young players, anyway. I know that, with my experience, I can help in this process of rebuilding the club, I'm here for that, willing to do this, however, I know that my responsibility is very great.'
Conor Gallagher on the other hand, has been in negotiations with Chelsea for some time over a contract extension – with his current deal set to expire in 2025 – but talks are currently at a standstill.
Sources state that Gallagher is demanding over £150,000 per week from the Blues but that is far more than they are willing to give him.
However, it remains to be seen if talks will be successful and both are handed new contracts as they are both key players at the club.
